Born into a family with a tradition in the scientific domain, Silvana continued the family legend, becoming a prominent presence in the academic world. Her journey from Romania to Tenerife, where she teaches physics at the University of La Laguna (ranked first in the national research ranking and among the top 70 in the world!), is a blend of fortunate circumstances and courageous decisions.

Named after her father, a physicist renowned in the field of quantum physics, Silvana, baptized with the first name Cuantina, was immersed in the fascinating atmosphere of physics and mathematics from an early age. Leaving for studies abroad at the age of only 16 took her to Moscow, where she began her journey into the world of physics at the M.V. Lomonosov State University. From her beginnings in Dubna, in the Moscow region, to the University of La Laguna, Silvana has always been amidst scientific challenges. Currently, Silvana dedicates herself to researching material properties, contributing to globally significant projects in the field of applied physics.

The Cioranescu family has always been synonymous with excellence in various fields, from literature to mathematics and chemistry. However, their recognition in the country has sometimes been limited, prompting Silvana and her mother’s efforts to highlight the family’s contributions to Romania’s cultural and scientific development. Although living and working in an international environment, Silvana has never forgotten her Romanian roots. Her love for her country of origin remains alive in her heart, and she takes pride in sharing Romanian culture and traditions with her European family.

As a physicist, Silvana sees the future in technological advancements that will shape the world in the years to come. Climate change and innovations in energy storage and efficient use are just a few of the challenges she approaches with optimism and determination. Silvana Elena Cioranescu is more than just a successful university professor. She is an example of perseverance, passion, and commitment to science and culture. In addition, he was a talented translator, bringing important works such as the „Divine Comedy” into the French language. After the Revolution of 1989, Ciorănescu was appointed an honorary member of the Romanian Academy, thus recognizing his exceptional contributions to Romanian culture and education. Although his fragile health prevented him from continuing his intellectual activity in the last years of his life, his cultural legacy remains alive and relevant, continuing to influence linguistic and literary studies in Romania and beyond.
